سيمنتک برنامه Norton AntiBot که برای شناسايی رفتار کدهای مخرب می باشد را منتشر کرد
اين نرم افزار که بر مبنای تکنولوژی Sana Security می باشد که با کمی تغييرات در برنامه SONAR سيمنتک که تکنولوژی جديدی در محصولات سيمنتک می باشد، عمل خواهد کرد.
سيمنتک در اين زمينه می گويد که AntiBot يک مکمل برای برنامه آنتی ويروس می باشد و جايگزينی برای آن به حساب نمی آيد زيرا که اين برنامه ويروس های قديمی را شناسايی نخواهد کرد.
اين برنامه فقط به رفتار شناسی برنامه های ديگر و کدهای مخرب تاکيد خواهد داشت که از کجا اجرا می شوند، چه تغييراتی در رجيستری ايجاد می کنند و چه سايت های اينترنتی را مورد هدف قرار خواهند داد. اين شرکت همچنين اذعان داشت که اين برنامه هيچ تداخلی با ضد ويروس های ديگر نخواهد داشت.
به گفته سيمنتک، از آنجاييکه تکنولوژی SONAR سيمنتک فقط در در هنگام تشخيص ويروس ها عمل خواهد کرد اما در برنامه AntiBot به طور کامل عملکرد تمامی برنامه های ديگر را زير نظر خواهد داشت.همانطور که در نام اين برنامه نهفته است، استفاده عمده اين برنامه برای شناسايی شبکه های بوت و سايت های تحت تاثير آن و شناسايی مراکز کنترل اين شبکه ها می باشد.

In the latest Internet Security Threat Report (Volume XI, March 2007) Symantec found that during the last six months of 2006, there were more than 6 million active bots which is approximately 30 percent more zombie computers than observed in the previous six-month period.
